Techniques of Work-Study
There are two primary techniques used by Work-Study practitioners:
a) Method Study: The systematic recording & critical examination of activities in order to make improvements.
b) Work Measurement: The application of techniques designed to establish the time for a qualified worker to carry out a task to a specified method.
Just as with other management functions it is common to have specialization between two disciplines, i.e. those who only carry out investigation into method improvements & those who establish timings. This is dependent upon the skills of the practitioners & the expectation of the company.
